About this policy
Rabeea Azreik trades as Alarmco (“Alarmco”, “we”, “us”). Alarmco is the operator of the service and the controller of the personal information described in this policy. This policy explains how we handle information when you use our app, website, and related services.
Alarmco is built so that most of what you do stays on your phone. Alarms, challenges, timers, the stopwatch, world clocks, and Sleep work without an Alarmco account, subject to subscription access. An account is needed for backups, groups, and keeping your progress when you change phones. Providing account information is voluntary, but we cannot provide those features without the information needed to operate them.
Information we collect
- Account: your email address, username, and how you sign in. Email sign-in uses one-time codes; Alarmco accounts have no passwords. Apple or Google sign-in may also provide profile information, such as your name and email, but never your password for those services.
- Backups: the requests you send and answer, and the details of each alarm that has a backup: its time and repeat schedule, the delay before your backup is alerted, its label and notes, its wake-up challenge, and whether each occurrence was confirmed or escalated. We keep a history of finished backup outcomes so your stats stay accurate.
- Groups: groups you create or join, their name and icon, membership, invitations, and group alarms, including who joined or turned an alarm off, who confirmed they were awake, and when.
- Progress, when you are signed in: the days you woke up and when, which challenges and alarm sounds you used, the badges you have earned and seen, the time zone your streak uses, how many times you helped as a backup, and summaries of finished Sleep sessions (start and end times, and the time and category of each detected sound). Sleep recordings themselves are never uploaded.
- Subscriptions: purchase records, subscription status, and an anonymous identifier RevenueCat generates on your device to verify access. This identifier is not linked to your Alarmco account. Apple or Google handles payments; we do not receive your card or bank details.
- Devices and notifications: notification tokens, your device platform and a device identifier, the app language and time zone used for notifications, and records of notifications we sent.
- Technical and security information: IP addresses and request records, rate-limit counters, and error and security logs needed to operate and protect the service. App stores may provide crash reports according to your settings. The website remembers your light or dark choice in your browser; we do not use analytics or advertising trackers in the app or on the website.
- Reports, blocks, and support: users you block or report and your reasons, and messages, attachments, and diagnostic information you choose to send us.
What stays on your phone
- Alarms and clock tools: alarms without a backup, timers, the stopwatch, world clocks, custom alarm sounds, and your preferences are stored only on your device. An alarm reaches our servers only when you add a backup to it.
- Camera, microphone, and motion: camera challenges analyse the camera image on your device; frames are not saved or uploaded. Voice challenges use your microphone and on-device speech recognition. Motion challenges read your phone’s motion sensors. Each permission is requested when you first use the feature.
- Sleep: while Sleep tracking is on, the microphone’s audio is analysed on your phone to recognise sounds such as snoring, talking, and sneezes. Only short clips around detected sounds are kept, encrypted, on your phone, and they are deleted after 7 days. Recordings leave your phone only if you share one yourself.
- Onboarding answers: your answers to the setup questions, such as when you wake up and how you heard about Alarmco, are stored only on your phone. Age and gender are asked to tailor the setup but are not stored.
- Widgets and reminders: Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets show a small summary stored on your phone, and the trial reminder is a notification scheduled on your phone.
- Photo library: Alarmco only reads items you choose yourself. Camera challenges never read your library or save images to it.
Device backups made by your phone’s operating system may include some of this information, according to your phone’s settings.
Sensitive information. Some of this can be personal: sounds around you while you sleep, your voice when you read a passage aloud (which may be a Bible verse or an affirmation you chose), and camera images of you or your room. Alarmco processes these on your phone only. They are not sent to us or to any AI service, are not used to train models or for advertising, and Alarmco does not create face, voice, or other biometric templates from them. Sleep insights describe sounds; they are not health or medical data.
What Alarmco does not access. Alarmco does not use your location, contacts, calendar, or Apple Health data, does not ask to track you across other companies’ apps and websites, and does not use advertising identifiers.
How we use information
We use information for the following purposes and, where applicable, on the following legal bases:
- Providing the service: creating accounts, sending sign-in codes, coordinating backups and groups, sending the notifications those features rely on, syncing your progress, verifying subscription access, and restoring purchases. Where contract is an applicable legal basis, we rely on the need to perform our agreement with you.
- Support, maintenance, and protection: answering questions, resolving errors, investigating reports, limiting abuse, and preventing fraud or misuse. Where permitted, we rely on our legitimate interests in maintaining a reliable and secure service, balanced against your rights.
- Legal obligations: keeping records or responding to valid requests where the law requires us to do so.
- Consent: device permissions such as the camera, microphone, motion, and notifications are only used once you allow them, and you can withdraw them in your phone’s settings. Where consent is required for another use, we request it separately.
We do not sell personal information, share it for targeted advertising, or use your recordings, photos, or progress to train models.
Retention and deletion
We keep personal information for as long as it is needed for the purposes in this policy, then delete or anonymise it. In particular:
- Group alarms and everyone’s answers to them are deleted 24 hours after the alarm rings. Your own result (whether you joined and woke up) stays in your account for your stats until you delete your account.
- Backup requests that expire or finish disappear from the app; their outcomes stay in your account’s backup history until you delete your account.
- Sleep clips on your phone are deleted after 7 days (clips saved in an earlier version of the app stay until you delete them); session history on your phone is kept for up to a year. To keep a clip longer, share it, for example to the Files app. You can delete all recordings sooner at the bottom of Sleep; session times and the sounds detected stay.
- Signing in with progress on both your phone and your account asks you to keep one. The other is permanently deleted: choosing the account’s progress deletes the phone’s progress and Sleep recordings, and choosing the phone’s replaces the account’s progress, including on your other devices. If only one side has progress, nothing is deleted.
- Signing out uploads your progress, then removes your account’s progress, Sleep sessions, and Sleep recordings from that phone. Alarms and preferences stay on the phone.
Deleting your account
Use Settings → Delete Account, or email support@alarmco.app if you cannot access the app. We may ask for information needed to verify account ownership. Never send sign-in codes or payment details.
Deletion removes your account and its cloud data, including your profile, alarms with backups, backup requests and history, synced progress, group memberships and group alarm results, and blocks. If you owned a group, ownership passes to the longest-standing member. Synced progress, Sleep sessions, and Sleep recordings are also removed from your phone.
What remains separate
- Device-only data: alarms, timers, world clocks, custom sounds, and preferences stay on your phone after account deletion. Remove them on your device, or delete the app.
- Subscription records: deleting your account does not cancel your subscription or erase app-store or RevenueCat purchase records. Cancel billing through the store you purchased from.
- Limited retained records: support correspondence, security logs, legally required records, and providers’ recovery backups may remain for a limited time under their own retention schedules.
- Copies held elsewhere: information another user has already seen, a notification already delivered, or a recording you shared cannot necessarily be recalled.
Your choices and rights
You can change your username, block users, leave groups, manage device permissions, export your account data from the app, and delete your account. The export covers your account’s cloud data, including synced progress; it does not include device-only alarms or Sleep recordings. Turning off a permission may stop the related feature from working.
Depending on the law that applies to you, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a portable copy of your personal information; restrict or object to certain processing; and withdraw consent. Withdrawing consent does not affect earlier lawful processing.
To ask a privacy question or exercise a right, contact support@alarmco.app. We may verify your identity and will respond within the period required by applicable law. Some requests are subject to lawful exceptions. You may also complain to the data-protection authority responsible for your location. We do not penalise you for exercising your privacy rights.
California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose, and to request its deletion or correction. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we use sensitive personal information only to provide the feature you asked for. Because Alarmco does not track you, it does not change its behaviour in response to browser “Do Not Track” signals.
Children’s privacy
Alarmco is not intended for children under 13. Higher minimum ages or parental-authorisation requirements may apply where you live. If you believe a child has provided personal information in a way that does not meet applicable requirements, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action, including deletion where required.
Protecting your information
Alarmco accounts have no passwords: sign-in uses one-time email codes, which expire after 10 minutes, or Apple or Google. Access to cloud data is restricted so that each person can only reach their own information and what others have chosen to share with them. Sleep clips are encrypted on your phone.
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, but no method of storage or transmission is completely secure. Keeping your phone and email account secure, and checking notification previews and recordings before sharing them, helps protect your information.
International processing
Alarmco and its providers may process information in countries other than where you live, which may have different privacy laws. Cross-border processing remains subject to applicable data-protection requirements, including lawful transfer safeguards where required. Contact us for information about the processing locations and safeguards relevant to your data.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our services or information practices change. The date above identifies the latest revision. We will give additional notice of material changes, and obtain consent where the law requires it, before introducing processing that needs it.
